How to remove oil tar from tile?
In general, the sooner you spot a spill, the easier it will be to remove.
It’s never pleasant to discover a stain, but look at it this way: if someone had to have an accident, at least it happened on a vinyl floor. Remarkably durable and resilient, vinyl flooring is also relatively easy to clean. At worst, removing an oil stain -- be it butter or margarine, cooking or olive oil, salad dressing or peanut butter -- may require a few steps, but it won’t mar your vinyl floor for long. And in the end, you might be additionally grateful that you chose vinyl as a floor covering in the first place.
Scrape the stain around the edges with the edge of a spoon. Lift as much as you can.
Sprinkle some baking soda or cornstarch on the stain. Let the baking soda or cornstarch sit on the stain for 20 minutes so that it helps break down the oil.
Sprinkle the stained area with some water and rub it with a soft bristle brush. Wipe the area with cool water, then wash the area with mild dish soap and water.
